AoC GM Ask Goons to Play Nice
Posted by Rup on June 1, 2008
You may or may not know of the Goon Squad. They are a very large multi-game guild that is composed of members of Somethingawful.com. They are a very big guild and are known for taking over servers, and causing mass havoc. They are one of the dominant corporations (guild) in Eve Online, and the latest game they have invaded is Age of Conan. Seems that the AoC GMs are a bit worried. Below is a screen grab of a conversation between a GM and a member of the Goons. The GM is basically pleading with the Goon to not PVP in large groups. For AoCs PVP servers, this is kind of odd.

Hah. They clearly don’t understand how SA operates. I expect to see lots of big groups ganking people all day long. Don’t provoke the Goon Squad.

‘Sorry, because you have so many friends our MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER PVP game is not right for you.’
lolwut? I’m sorry, but this is just ridiculous. If I and several hundred of my [non existent :(] friends decided to PLAY a game together, and its PVP, I don’t see the problem in PVPing.
If they didn’t want this many people in one group, maybe they should have incorporated it into their game. EVE Online is mentioned, and that game has limits to Corporation membership. They even increased it because the goons had to use two corporations to get all their people in.
I can see this ending in disaster already. Way to start a new MMO, by telling five thousand people they’re not allowed to play because they all subscribe to the same completely unrelated forum. Whats next? AoC isn’t going to allow Farkers or Redditors to play their game together?

so does that mean they win? cause if a GM contacted my guild in WOW and begged us to please stop killing so many people i would probably chalk it up as winning the game and /delete my account
